Pivot Dublin

PIVOT Dublin is an initiative sponsored by Dublin City Council to promote better design practices, and to improve the city by using design as a tool to enrich our social, economic and cultural lives.

In 2014, Dublin City Council entered a bid to become the World Design Capital, a city promotion awarded annually that recognises cities for their work in the field of design. The bid book produced by PIVOT Dublin – which includes research, writing, and a series of short films – set out a description of Dublin’s design strengths, with detailed and costed proposals for a year of design with lasting legacy outcomes. The bid was shortlisted to the final three entrants.

I was invited, along with a selection of Dublin creatives across design disciplines, to create a fashion cover for the PIVOT Dublin bid book.

The image featured a Dublin girl on the Grand Canal wearing a piece from the graduate collection of now internationally celebrated designer Simone Rocha, and reflected the changing landscape of Irish fashion.
